Job Purpose:

ICEA LION General Insurance Company, a leading provider of general insurance products and services seeks to recruit a Business Development Officer whose responsibilities will be to develop strong and stable relationships, attend to quotations and negotiate with intermediaries and other clients to ensure business production, growth and renewals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare competitive quotations for prospects.
  • Set up meetings, prepare and deliver presentations to potential clients.
  • Prepare risk registers for various clients for underwriting purpose.
  • Consult on the most effective cover for a particular need, while taking a number of factors into account.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with intermediaries and existing customers.
  • Ensure credibility with clients by maintaining detailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors' products.
  • Manage Broker/Agents social forums to enhance relationships and reward good performance.
  • Deliver good customer service by responding swiftly to queries and concerns from clients.
  • Maintain a regular and accurate updated database of all prospective and closed business
  • Manage exhibition stands and corporate sponsorships
  • Ensure strict adherence to practices, procedures and policy stipulated in the business development operational manual including the Code of Ethics.
  • Out of town travel to source, renew and collect premiums.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications required:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Business or related discipline from a reputable university.
  • COP (College of Insurance) with Sales & Marketing being an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in sales and marketing.
  • Appreciable understanding of the Kenya insurance market, the prevailing business environment and products by the competition.
  • Good customer relationship management skills (internal and external customers).
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated but able to work as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good negotiation skills and persuasiveness.
  • Confidence presenting to large groups of people.
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and performance oriented.

Training & Administration Manager – FA & Branch Network

Job purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Agency Business and Branch Network, the jobholder will be responsible for developing and driving the training and development strategy for the TLAs curriculum and learning materials. They will also provide support to TLAs, Unit managers, Intermediaries, brokers in relation to their recruitment, on-boarding, and their working cycle.  

 

Key responsibilities

  • Identify training needs for TLA and Branch Network.

  • Develop training curriculum for TLA and Branch Network

  • Ensure consistency and quality of TLA training curriculum in line with set standards

  • Oversee the recruitment and on-boarding of TLAs’, Unit Managers, Intermediaries, Brokers, and ensure  that the process is seamless and effective

  • Ensure compliance by TLAs’ that they have relevant licenses required by IRA 

  • Compliance with laid down procedures and policies

  • Continuously undertake research to get updated on current content delivery methodologies and training content for TLA

  • Work with the Head of Business & branch network to motivate TLA

  • Management of TLA Benefits

  • Review the TLA processes and updates the procedures manual.

  • Perform other administrative roles, e.g. management of orphaned accounts, TLA portfolio management, processes and procedure manual reviews 

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field

  • 7 years’ experience in insurance; 3 of which should be in a managerial capacity.

  • Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII or AIIK added advantage)

  • A relevant training qualification will be essential.

JOB SUMMARY:

The GM, Business Development and Technical Services is responsible for developing the marketing and operations strategy, market & product development, distribution and servicing within the Life Business. The GM is also responsible for ensuring that various technical functions (underwriting, claims, re-insurance, pricing, and general operations) of the company are in place and meet expectations.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy and Marketing
  • Actively participating in the development, implementation and execution of strategic marketing plans in support of the corporate strategy.
  • Leading the development of customer segment strategies, defining value proposition, service levels, and production offerings for each segment.

 

  • Technical Oversight and Operational Control
  • Monitoring risk acceptance and claims settlement processes to ensure that ICEA LION Life Insurance meets its financial obligations and produces acceptable underwriting results and loss ratios based on acceptable and sustained operating margins as set out in strategic plans and budgets.
  • Ensuring that the underwriting criteria for each level of risk is appropriate to the premium and policy terms being offered and where necessary specifying and varying the products and terms being offered and ensuring that they are sound, sustainable and known to in-house underwriters
  • Working in close conjunction with the company’s actuaries to ensure that pricing and structure of products is competitive and in line with market needs.

 

  • Product Review and Development
  • Measuring product performance and liaises with business development and operations departments to implement appropriate improvements in line with consumer needs.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of a structured process of product review and development.

 

  • Brand Promotion
  • Coordinating product branding and launch, including name selection, product packaging, product advertising, sales promotions (new and existing), tradeshow marketing, and internet marketing in liaison with the Marketing & Communications Manager.

 

  • Business Development
  • Generating revenue from new and existing brokers and clients, identifying broker needs in order to help develop new business opportunities in liaison with Business Development heads.

 

  • Distribution Channels
  • Developing, maintaining, and growing the alternative distribution channels in line with the business strategy.

 

  • Managing Talent
  • Mentoring, coaching, and mobilising the Business Development teams to achieve planned financial results.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business field or related discipline from a reputable university.
  • Professional qualification(s) in insurance e.g. ACII, FCII or equivalent
  • Master’s in Business Administration is an added advantage.
  • Ten (10) years’ post qualification experience with at least five (5) years at senior management level.
